But some of the Northmen feel he is poisoning her mind, and worst, what will Bjorn think when they are reunited?
A small group, including Aslaug and her sons, arrives in Hedeway, having fled Kattegat. Lagertha feels how the balance of power has shifted, but she sees what Aslaug sees too – an opportunity.

Every evening after work, Athelstan takes the train home. Usually he sits alone in a quiet unoccupied carriage, but now there's always a family there too and they're all very interested in him, particularly the gorgeous tattooed parents. Athelstan should look away or find another carriage to sit in, but he doesn't.
Gyda always sat back to back with her father as they talked. She now rests her back against his as he sits on the beach, staring into the water.
All his life Athelstan has suffered visions of odd creatures that no one else sees. As a result, he quit his priest training and began work as a book illustrator. Usually, his visions ignore him but one day, two of them, a man called Ragnar and a woman called Lagertha, look at him and even speak to him. Athelstan is terrified, but also helplessly intrigued.
