Set after Mattie Ross is bitten by a snake and then rescued from the pit. I haven't changed much from the original scene from Charles Portis's book and the Coen brothers' film, but I thought I'd flesh it out a bit. Potentilla flowers symbolise hope, honour, strength, power, loyalty, courage, luck and also a beloved daughter. Mattie had or was all of those things.
Three years have passed. After a great fire claims her family's farm, Mattie finds herself on the hunt again, this time to find the man who violated her mother's sister and bring him to justice. Along the way, old relationships are rekindled, and Mattie is swept up into a blazing romance and the greatest adventure she has ever had.
