Jess escorts a dangerous prisoner from Laramie to Rawlins, but nothing goes as planned: Traveller as a hostage; thievin', murderin' outlaws; a pair of handcuffs; homemade cider; mistaken identity; and learning the hard way to accept the help of friends. Chapters will be posted daily, so read now or wait until the story is fully published.
A short story that offers a little more insight into our beloved Jess Harper. This time, it's a look at his birthday and the unusual attitude he has about it. (Story posted on this day in tribute to the talented actor who, for so many of us, is the ultimate cowboy and a man of honor who deserves to be honored: the phenomenal Robert Fuller, born July 29, 1933.)
A man comes for revenge on Jess Harper, putting both Jess and his best friend Slim Sherman in mortal danger.
The scheme was simple, dupe the people, rob the shopkeepers and get away. That is, until they met the Sherman-Harper family. Inspired by episode 10 season 2 " Driver's Gold", this tale takes us into the world of fake medicine and a quack doctor. I don't own the rights to Laramie I just like to play.
Yes this is a continuation of my Friends series. This will be the last of this series. I am publishing by chapter but they will be posted quickly, just makes it easier to post a few at a time. Jess' past catches up to him once again.
When a drifter shows up at the Sherman Ranch looking for work and holding a grudge, Slim, Jess, and Andy find themselves in more trouble than they could have possibly imagined.
When Slim receives a message that his best friend Jess Harper has been taken by a pair of convicted murderers, he knows he has to save him. The only problem? He doesn't know where to find him, and the only man who can help him is Henry Shaw, who is currently being held in the Laramie jail on his own murder charges.
The summary being too long to fit in this space, it is written after my author's note at the beginning of chapter one. But to pull you in, this is a poignant line that fits into the summary. Slim says to the killer, "You don't know Jess Harper."
A collection of short stories about saving the lives that make up Laramie. Each "chapter" is a COMPLETE story, with the saving theme in each. If you have something you would like to see, let me know and I'll do my best to put it into words. By the way, I intend to add on new chapters until I run out of ideas, which, you know, might be never!
Was the poem "Die Loreley" and the haunting melody the inspiration for a story? A tag end of one of the episodes.
If you look with your heart to see the good in people, you will usually find it. Like Andy did. *****To hear a recording of this poem read by the author, please go to SoundCloud dot com (search for A Michigan Skylark in Laramie)
Despite Francie's claim that he "never was much of a hand to write," Jess is undeniably a letter writer. We know he writes to Gil Brady, Galveston's sheriff, Jim Tenny, & to Slim. In the vivid & playful letter Jess sends home in "Duel at Alta Mesa" we hear a mixture of irony, simile, humor, & thinly veiled homesickness. Apprehended in Wyoming, Frank Bannister is finally about to stand trial. When Jess Harper, the new hired hand at Sherman Ranch, hears the news, his puzzling actions present his boss with decisions to make about the volatile Texan he barely knows. (This time, I'll post chapters as I edit and polish each one. You can read along as the story updates or wait till it's all uploaded.)
A One-shot about the lasting effects of all those injuries received in the series. I own nothing and no I'm not mad or sad about it...At all. ( ) Enjoy.
PART ONE ends with Andy blaming Jess for the loss of his beloved horse, Cyclone. causing Jess to leave the Sherman Ranch. THE SEQUEL continues from where PART ONE concluded. Jess is in search of Cyclone and Andy is completing his probation. Things never go as planned for the Sherman Household. It helps to have read Part One, but each story stands alone.
Journeying home on Christmas Eve, an accidental encounter brings Jess unexpected friendship and unusual gifts.
Merry Christmas to all of my readers! It has become tradition to gift a Christmas story to you (this is the fourth) but I honestly didn't think I was going to get it finished in time. I even prepared to call it the gift that keeps on giving after Christmas day. But I did it with some room to spare. Thank you all for another wonderful year with Laramie. May God bless your 2022. CW
After Jess witnesses a tragedy that causes his nightmares to return he considers a way out.
Images of light and darkness abound this time of year, from Solstice to Hanukkah to Christmas. In a deeply divided world, we are—all of us—in dire need of light, just as the boys were after the terrible darkness and division that marked the American Civil War. (An audio recording of this poem can be found on Soundcloud dot net - search for "A Michigan Skylark in Laramie").
A poem about Jess, his story, and a thank you to Slim.
Will this be Jess's last Christmas at Sherman Ranch? Will anguish about the past force him to ride away forever, or can one special gift help convince him to stay? My Christmas present for you, FanFic pards. Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll enjoy it. Have a blessed holiday season. Merry Christmas to you all!
Very often at the end of episodes, there are reasons for gratitude, even if it is not directly expressed. These short 'snapshots' try to capture some of the other moments which might merit saying an unexpected or humorous or quirky but always heartfelt "thank you ...".
Home for summer break, Andy falls in with a bad crowd, leading to his arrest. When his cronies break him out of jail, they go on the run. While Mort and Slim hunt the fugitives, Jess takes it upon himself to find Andy. As usual, nothing goes as planned resulting in murder, mystery and mayhem. NOTE: This story stands on its own but ends in a cliff hanger. Sequel already in process
He died in Men of Defiance, but can Frank Bannister still finish off all the Harpers?
Jess returns to the Ranch to find that some things need to be addressed and slowly be healed. I do not own the characters or the setting but the writing is my own. I also do not own the picture.
Jess in Dodge City after Pete Morgan "busted his head," meeting Matt Dillon, Doc Adams, and Kitty Russell.
Companion to "Jess Harper: The Story of My Life." Slim tells an interviewer the story of his background and early life.
Jess recounts his story in his own words. Apologies to my readers for the long dry spell-I've spent six months coping with a sprained shoulder and a new apartment to get settled into!
Merry Christmas from the Sherman family! It's real late cos I wrote this after Jess's...I began it after Jess's...Haha Goes with "Jess's Favorite Christmas"
HEAVILY EDITED! Reread if ya please...thank you. :) -Not traditional Laramie- Matt and Mary Sherman have settled in Wyoming, with a desire to build a big ranch and family. Matthew "Slim" and Andy Sherman are their two boys. But with Andy's discover they gain another child. Known as Jess. (Later they will learn his full name: Jess Harper).
