A short story detailing the origins of London Below's world and also the two villians Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar.
There was Sherlock, bringer of life to the inhabitants of London Below- one of three who possess particular powers of Fate. Then there was John, hapless bystander who gets swallowed up into the rift between the two London's- falling through the cracks. Sherlock has vowed to help him find his way home, by way of the Lady Door. If only The Web would leave them alone to do so...
An older Harry just wishes he could escape from his life. A chance encounter gives him his wish.
Richard's been captured by Serpentine, & he doesn't know why, Mr Croup and Mr Vandemar are back, and to top it off the Marquis thinks he and Door should enlist them to rescue Richard. Are the killers loyal, or are there deeper plots afoot? Much Croup and Vandemar - wonderful fun to write "I prefer not to think of it as murder, but as an art form." Mr Croup.
I was struck by who Croup and Vandemar had killed: "a dozen kings, five popes, half a hundred heroes and two accredited gods". What happens when you kill a god? This, possibly. Very short one shot, do take a moment to enjoy what I made for fun.
The Marquis de Carabas and Sherlock Holmes switch coats. Big problem. One-shot.
