  • There's No Place Like Home

Arabella Figg muses about the ostracism of being a Squib, and how she found (and made) a sense of belonging.

  • On the Brink of Life and Death

If there were no magic, and all our favourite Harry Potter characters lived in the Muggle world, what might their lives be like? Hermione decides on a career in medicine, and her doubts about her bedside manner are dramatically resolved in a car park.

  • In the Shadows

Magical folk and the nobility find common ground as they work together in secrecy to save the innocent in post-Revolutionary France. An entry for round 7 of the International Wizarding Schools Competition.

  • Perfectly Normal?

Harry's first teacher spots something just a little...weird...about him.

  • Behind the Veil

Remus struggles to reconcile his desire to be 'normal' with his safety in an increasingly dangerous world, while James and Lily offer support and validation. Life and death, grief and joy, and fear and courage collide and compete.

  • The Challenge of the Oracle

Fleur navigates her way through the third task of the Triwizard Tournament, and discovers new insights about herself in the process. An entry for round 5 of the International Wizarding Schools Championship.

  • Beauxbatons School Song

Being on the Beauxbatons team of the International Wizarding Schools Competition, I decided we needed a school song, for a little esprit de corps. (There might have been a teensy bit of rivalry involved, since the Hogwarts team was bragging about having a canon school song, but there's no need to mention that.) It's in English, for all the English-only Harry Potter fans.

  • Red Lilies

A "Voldemort wins" AU story, set during the first wizarding war. How might the wizarding world - and especially the Order of the Phoenix? - have been different had Severus Snape been Dumbledore's man all along? An entry for the International Wizarding Schools Competition.

  • Red Lilies

A "Voldemort wins" AU story, set during the first wizarding war. How might the wizarding world have been different had Severus Snape been Dumbledore's man all along? An entry for the International Wizarding Schools Championship,

  • The Point of His Nose

The discovery of Lupin's "furry little problem", and how Pettigrew played a pivotal - albeit unintentional - role in the Marauders' decision to become Animagi.

  • Fur and Feathers

In the aftermath of Umbridge's dissolution of the DA, Seamus helps Lavender achieve a corporeal Patronus. An extra entry for the International Wizarding School Championship, standing in for an absent team member.

  • The Happiest Thought

Bill faces the horrifying prospect of becoming a werewolf in the first full moon after the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, and Fleur struggles to maintain her equilibrium in the face of his depression and angst.

  • Petunia's Apology

This story is a grammar school one-shot for the International Wizarding School Championship. The compulsory element was complex sentences. I would never choose to write exclusively in complex sentences, so I'm rather uncomfortable with the result - but not nearly as uncomfortable as Petunia was at having to apologise to James. I hope you enjoy how she did it.

  • Turquoise Thunder

A young Zuni girl discovers her magical power through a piece of turquoise and her Thunderbird friend. (Note: The story will eventually be much longer and more in-depth. This is a short version to fit within the Wizarding School Championship competition limit.)

  • Fireworks for Christmas

An entry for the International Wizarding School Championship. (The constraints for the entry are noted as a header.) A one-shot set during the 1995-96 Christmas holidays, showing Fred and George being their usual joking-but-kind selves and brightening the life of a nearby Muggle in the process.

  • The Ballad of the Wagga Wagga Werewolf

At the beginning of ch.10 in Chamber of Secrets, Lockhart commands Harry to aid him in re-enacting for the class his supposed defeat of the Wagga Wagga werewolf. At the end of the lesson, he says, "Homework: compose a poem about my defeat of the Wagga Wagga werewolf! Signed copies of 'Magical Me' to the author of the best one!" Here's mine :-)

  • The Thirty-Six DADA Professors (Part 1) 1955-1966

Voldemort jinxed the DADA professorship in 1955, and in 1996 Dumbledore told Harry that since then no DADA professor has remained in the position for more than a year. If you ever wondered what happened to each of them, read this account.

  • Hallowe'en Darkness

A canon-consistent story about the events between Hagrid's arrival at the ruined Potter residence and Harry being placed on the doorstep at Privet Drive. Note: Asterisks at key points denote particular passages where readers should consult the author's notes at the end of the story for explanation about apparent inconsistencies.

  • How the Years Have Flown

In piecing together the events for "Hallowe'en Darkness", I imagined a headcanon about Harry's broomstick, and the thought of writing it was irresistible. Here it is. My apologies for choosing to list it as "Pre-Hogwarts" - it has elements of pre- and post- and next generation, so it was very hard to categorise.

  • Romance out of Ruin

At the end of DH, resistance-leading, mouthy, sword-wielding horcrux-killer Neville has proven his courage and come into his real self. What kind of girl would attract him then? How about one whose courage failed her at the crucial moment, and who was humiliated and scorned for it? This story is a bite-sized look at how Neville and Marietta discover a bond.
