To combat the threat of Epic Universe, Mickey decides to turn the typical Not So Scary Halloween Party into a much more terrifying version. He opens up portals that allow characters to come through. Hans comes through one of thesek, finally ready to put himself out there again, then meets Mirabel, but their budding relationship is unfortunately short-lived.

Mirabel and Isabela are on a road tri to meet their family at an amusement park when they stop at a gas station for provisions. The guy at the counter won't take Mirabel's money, however, but then an elf boy comes to her rescue. She finds the elf boy very cute and wonders if they can vibe, then she and Isabela go to have dinner with Ian and BArley.

Fluttershy is ready to go to her cottage for the night, when she hears screams in the Evergreen Forest. She flies off to investigate and sees a vampire biting Rainbow Dash's neck. Rainbow Dash goes off and the vamire strikes up a conversation with Fluttershy before bringing her into the bark of a tree and there they hide from vamire hunters going through theforest.

Kaiba agrees to duel Mai Valentine's new girlfriend, who uses a rare set of cards that are onies, which annoy Kaiba. After the duel, he sees a crying girl and goes to comfort her, only to discover it is Joey's sister. They spark up a relationship and all seems to go well, but one morening, Kaiba wakes up to find some ponies looking at him. Not cards, actual ponies.

Something strange is going on around Casita. Isabela has a twin? The house's colors have gone dark instead of bright and cheery? And some of the Madrigal's powers are different. Mirabel suspects they might have two gifts and no one bothered to tell her. And then everyone expects her to use HER gift. When she says she can't, Isabela's twin gets upset and they get sent elsewhere.

On the day of her gift-receiving ceremony, Mirabel discovers that her gift is the ability to open gateways to toher places that she and her family can just step through. Isabela has a twin named Raina with a power where she can conjure fire kitties and water-shooting iguanas. Luisa has super speed.

Isabela and Dolroes disappear and Mirabel weeps, concerned they may not return. She discovers a door she never saw before in the Madrigal house and steps through, finding herself in front of three slabs. She is drawn into another world where she must duel to save her sister, and losing duels means paying the ultimate price.

In an effort to help her sister get over her ex, Isabela invites Mirabel to come to Japan with her. But Mirabel wants to nab a Nervegear, the new virtual reality headset. She sneaks off to buy one, planning to go join her sister, and face her wrath, but gets trapped in the game instead.

Idunn learns that her unborn daughter will be stillborn if she isn't saved now. Astrid travels to the future to restore her dragon Stormfly from a frozen state. Astrid has ice powers.
