Without Hogan, the camp is in chaos and his men left to pick up the pieces of the Operation. Enter Crittendon, sent by London to take over. Crittendon's arrival causes Maisie to leave and find out things mightn't be as they seem. OC
This is just an ending, if you will, to "Sticky Wicket, Newkirk." In it, Newkirk lies in his bunk, contemplating the whole ordeal that has happened that day. He is unable to sleep despite the exhaustion he feels, overcome by emotions and fear. In the end, he gets comfort from a friend. This is not slash. (This is still a one-shot. The new "chapter" is the story rewritten.)
