A distant echo

Orochimaru is a spiteful bastard, as a parting gift during the Sanin battle he leaves Naruto with a Curse Mark. Though purged by Kyuubi, the Mark still burns hot in his soul, forcing to the surface darker thoughts long since buried. Burning with the realities of having to face these darker aspects, Naruto's destiny shifts as new avenues open and new burdens appear.
