No one attended the Saturday detention on March 24th 1984, with the exception of John Bender. But then, who was John Bender? He was a nobody. And Claire Standish was a somebody. They'd never so much as locked eyes with each other for longer than three seconds, never mind actually holding a conversation. So why were they so drawn to each other?
