A five year old girl who had been abused by her imposter of a father finds a black book labeled death note in a school he meets the owner of the book Ryuk who gives her in exchange for the death note a necklace known as the Shinigami necklace and instructs her not to use it unless her life is in danger. The reason? If she takes it off... Someone has to die.
