Orphaned at a young age, Marinette Dupain-Cheng tries to make her ends neat by working at the local Café, "La Coccinella."She catches the eye of a new customer who arrives in a pinstriped suit and a cat mask. His name, ChatNoir, a known criminal that becomes smitten with the charming barista. He becomes frustrated when she refuses his kind gestures and resorts to blackmail.
