Edward has wondered in darkness since becoming a vampire. Liberty has lived in darkness her whole life, unable to see the light she is to those around her. They are two beings from two completely different worlds, literally. However, they have both have longed for a place where they belong. Together, they learn the value of friendship, family, and love.
