The Doctor's navigational skills are known to be iffy -at best- which is how he ended up losing eight months as John Smith in the 27th Century. His skills are also known for getting him to where he needs to be. This wasn't any different, even if he hadn't been the Doctor. AU for "Family of the Blood" and "Human Nature."
