Once upon a time, a race of people fled their home planet, not willing to present themselves as gods. They went on and seeded life in substantial parts of the known universe. Klingons will tell you that gods are more trouble than they are worth, and that to grow, a race needs to do all their gods in. But, doing-whoever-all-in is SO not Federation. What a girl to do?
