Movie compliant - Neptune is crying out for a new sheriff and Veronica is more than happy to follow in her father's footsteps even if he isn't that happy about it. Mac however is more than happy to lend her talents to a job she might actually enjoy and Dick has a problem that he will gladly fund Veronica's campaign if she makes it go away.
