Gooey normally a helper in Kirby's dreamland 3. But now in this story, he is helper to hero in this story. Kirby is not in this story unfortunately. Some of them were funny stuff relating to breaking fourth walls. Gooey has more than one abilities because some abilities were relocated to smash ability.
