Life is more than merely staying alive

I watch as my mother's eyes fall shut with one last tear to drop. Everything stops around me no movement can be seen or heard and I'm suffocating, she was my tether to this rotten and cruel world, she was my anchor to life. No I have someone I need to protect. I can't leave her I have to keep fighting because shadow passes, while light remains. And so I remain.
