After everything they did, they were betrayed. The light, lead by Mad Eye Moody in Dumbledore's name turned on the golden and silver trios after Voldemort's death, hunting them. In the end, however, death decides to fix this. He brings them all back to a time before the war, where no one will know to stop their plans. They can now write history how they want it.
