They're only a few miles from Konoha's gates and Kakashi is fast. He'll get his students safely tucked away within their walls before beelining it to the hokage's office and informing the Sandaime what exactly he has observed. He can sense the kunoichi following them at a slower pace, heading right for the village, so he speeds up and ignores his students' shouted questions.
