The Avengers are battling a new threat when a newcomer- who just so happens to have the same power as the enemy- helps the Avengers out, and S.H.I.E.L.D obtains their first ever wand-wielder who just so happens to be Steve Rogers' new friend. Whoever said America was a great place for a fresh start was sorely mistaken.
