Courier Six always spoke of 'beginning again', and she took that too literally. She changed her name and hid her face and pretended like she wasn't who she use to be. Arriving in Zion, however, was proof that she was nothing but a liar. It was time she came to realise you can only run from your demons for so long before they catch up, and she had to face her unfinished business.
