A Different Path

He took one last look at the tattered black, gently rippling veil in front of him, steeled himself, and then walked through it. He could feel the light fading all around him as a thousand different voices echoed in his ear. He felt weightless, devoid of any emotion. All of his senses seemed to have shut down. The ground fell away beneath him as he was dragged into darkness.
