During From the Heart, Shane's plaintive question to Oliver, "Am I too late for dinner?" broke my heart on a deeper level. The gut-wrenching look and tone made me seriously wonder, "Who hurt you, Shane?" And this fic came to being. Part of the Between the Altars series and follows Family Ties.
