The Daughter of the Slayer

Astrid didn't ask for her mom to die in a house fire. She also knows she didn't ask for people, claiming to be vampires, to chase her down. But she sure as hell didn't ask for a man named Henry to save her, thought it's very much appreciated. It raises the question though, what was her mom into before she died and what does that have to do with her?
