It's the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Ems. Homey and warm. Fire perfume, Seth likes to call it. It's the sign of family and friends gathering and relishing in the light and love. What is funny is that smoke can also signify hate. Anger. Loss. It was what tainted the sky the night the sturdy wood bridge between me and Emily burned.
