Dumbledore knew what he had to do. He had to wipe Trelawney's memory of visiting him. If she didn't remember applying for the Divination post, she would never realize she had predicted something that could make or break the Wizarding World. Waving his wand and uttering just three syllables, Dumbledore's job was done.
