The Avengers broke the rules of time travel. Why should they be the only ones? Or, if the timeline and the universe is FUBAR, why not be more ambitious and try to prevent humanity from ever drawing the attention of the universe – and do something like stopping the Red Skull from getting his hands on the cube in the first place.
