Some higher being, likely Primus decides to throw a giant wrench in the workings of fate probably just for the shits and giggles and decides to toss a group of friends into the Transformers Bayverse Universe and give them bird attributed forms. Not like they weren't busy running an underground criminal empire or anything like that! And now they're stuck, great.
