After the duel with the newly-resurrected Voldemort in the graveyard forces Harry to reconsider all that he's ever known and after ending up in a near-death state, the Boy-Who-Lived decides that enough is enough. Dumbledore and Gryffindor 'honor' be damned, he would much rather live and have a family, and if that means using more ruthless tactics, so be it.
