This is according to Sir Malory's version : Morgana and Morgause and Elaine are indeed sisters, daughters born to Sir Golois and Ygraine, and Arthur's half-sisters, so a little different the show Merlin, where they are half-sisters through Viviane. And this is Mordred's story, with Morgause as his Mother, from how he was born to how he grew up with Arthur and Uther.
