Serving as a prequel to the short story, Mowgli's Brothers, depicting Shere Khan (Lungri) before and around the time he becomes a man eater and before he causes Mowgli to be orphaned in the jungle and adopted by wolves. Also further develops his dynamic with Tabaqui, the jackal.
