On his last breath, Shirou destroyed the Greater Grail, along with Angra Mainyu. He had been expecting to die quietly, not to somehow become employed by Alaya. Though he had been human, he was a Heroic Spirit, and as Avenger of the Fourth Holy Grail War, he would do his best to win, and save those people who had shaped him from his birth in fire. The Avenger would save them.
