Dumbledore adopted and raised Snape from his first year at Hogwarts and now Snape has adopted Draco after his parents died during his first year. Snape is struggling with doing right by the boy who has been spoiled and has a tendency to sulk and Dumbledore helps by reminding him of similar incidents when he was in trouble.
