Somebody to Petrova

Alaric's thirteen year old niece comes to live with him, Jeremy and Elena. Things don't go of to a good start with Elena. She does however make good friends with the one and only Mikaelson family causing more or less everyone else to hate her. The question remains though why does she look like a younger Katherine and why does her blood clearly show/smell she is not a Saltzman?
