It's a month after Hermione Granger has managed to slip into the Knights' ranks and Riddle isn't quite sure what to make of her. She's very, very valuable to his cause. So valuable, in fact, that when she contracts a particularly bad cough in the first week of October, Riddle takes notice. She waves away his inquisitive comments and tells him she'll be fine in a week. She isn't.
