Harry Potter is given to the Dursley's, who deprive him of many necessities and abuse him. They kick him to the curb and Harry gets his Hogwarts letter. Harry goes through his adventure with a more realistic, less childish outtake on the world. He is sorted into Hufflepuff and makes plenty of friends there. Harry won't take crap from anybody. Abuse in beginning, cursing throughout.
