One rise prevents a fall

One and a half decade before the attack the Cylons had decided that in order to prepare for the fulfilment of their plans to birth a new generation of their children after the destruction of humanity, they needed a 'proof of concept' or three in case any unexpected problems showed up. This back fired: an unexpected side-effect ended up changing the fate of two whole civilizations.
