Time is up for Kira. Matt seeks revenge against Kira for the assassination attempt on Mello, who was seriously injured by an explosion resulting from a police incursion in America, and forces Kira to come out of hiding in Japan. Light must face Matt without exposing his secret, posing as an agent of Kira, and stop this unhinged lunatic, while he engages in his own hunt for Mello!
