To her family, Rose seems to represent everything they are not. She is quiet, thoughtful - not to mention Slytherin. Rose tries to go through life without causing trouble. Until one day, when the realisation that the people who see her as nothing but a piece of amusement aren't going to back off until she does something, hits her literally in the face.
