When they made the Marauders map, they didn't know that there might be unexpected effects, especially when they were dabbling on the powerful magic within the Hogwarts Castle itself. So when they saw an unfamiliar name on the Marauders Map, they were quite puzzled at first, more so when they could communicate with the girl, Hermione Granger, who turned out to be from the future.
