Demons were once beings with two heads, four arms and only one heart. When the gods started to feel threatened by these creatures' power they split them in half, leaving both parts yearning to find the other. All Ichigo ever wanted was to find his other half, but with family politics at play that's never going to happen. Except these things have a way of simply appearing.
