S1 - sort of... Bass loves the Civil War, but it isn't until Charlie moves to town with her family (& enrolls in his new University) that he even considers teaching it... with Miles forbidding the budding attraction between his best friend & niece, this is the only way Bass can come up with to have the best of both worlds.
