The story follows the life of Wessacat, a human/larl with the ability to change from one to the other...well, to some extent...and her companion, Wasi, an ocelot, in their search for a Home Stone where she will be accepted for what she is. Just when she thinks she has found one, her hopes are dashed and she sets off into the wilds again. Will her search ever end?
