Villains aren't born committing capital crimes, which is why Macavity wasn't always the villain- and for a time he wasn't the only one of Deuteronomy's sons to rebel so devastatingly. Magic runs deep in Deuteronomy's lineage leaving little room for error and a lot of opportunity for disaster in the wrong hands... like Munkustrap, Rum Tum Tugger, and Macavity's.
