Medda finds an injured boy on the catwalk in her theatre, and finds out about about the little boys around her. Also known as Medda's first meeting with a young Jack Kelly. ONE-SHOT
"Hey, Crutchie," Jack knelt down to the little boy. "Ya alright?" The boy looked at him. His hazel eyes were glossy, and his face was red from crying. "My name ain't Crutchie." The boy whispered. "Its Andrew." In which Jack finds a boy in the streets, and begins a fast friendship (Man, I suck at summaries!)
"Jack lifted up the cart, to see a long piece of cloth with STRIKE written in black paint." In which Jack is walking through Newsies Square, and finds something that makes him both happy and sad. ONE-SHOT (PS: I know its a bad summery, but get over it!)
The boys thought it was just to spread the word on the strike, but it was more than that. Much more.
"Les," He said, smiling sadly. "I'm only going to be sleeping. I'll see you when I wake. I promise." Les gripped his brother's hand. Davey's eyes closed. He went limp. Les put his ear to Davey's chest, listening for a heartbeat. Faintly he heard Bu-bump...Bu-bump...Bu- then silence. Les threw his arms around his older brother, crying into his shirt.
"Katherine Elizabeth Pulitzer. If it wasn't for you, I would be in Santa Fe, alone. But you gave me something to believe in. And don't ever wanna stop believing in you. Will you marry me?"
