This is a story, about happened right before Kurogane was born. A little girl, who would in future join the travelers, first came to Suwa and met Kuroganes parents. She grows fond of them, but know inside that she can never be them, even fi she wants to.

Before basil met Dawson, he met another mouse, who became his non-official assistant. Maria didn't mean to get involved in anything that would turn her world upside down or have any adventures in her life. But after getting herself mixed in a dangerous plan of Ratigan, she doesn't have a choice, but to join forces with Basil.
