["Birthday Celebrations" AU] After being more or less rescued from the Cheap Flask by Remus Lupin - or RJ Marauder, the name on the cover of the bestselling books he writes - Tonks thinks it's really only polite to thank him with a gift of pie. And, well, if she happens to get a few books signed in the process, it's really just luck.

"When he heard about Regulus' death, he locked himself in his room and lit a candle. He sobbed until the candle was nothing more than a puddle of wax."

Remus was just sitting at the top of the Astonomy Tower, wondering why his life was so terrible. What had he done to deserve it? But then, Lily Evans came up to talk. Maybe life's not so bad after all...

In their sixth year, the Marauders notice something strange about Remus. He's spending a lot of time with Lily, McGonnigal always wants to talk to him, and he himself is barely speaking, clearly exhausted but also excited, and for whatever reason he's decided he can't tell his friends about it. What's going on?

Upon meeting up with Remus at the beginning of their sixth year, the Marauders make a horrifying discovery: Remus has grown his hair out.

It's that day of the year that all lycanthropes in England despise: Werewolf Registration Day. Young Nymphadora Tonks, an intern in the Auror office, has been sent down to the Werewolf Support Services to help out with the Registration, where she meets a rather interesting few werewolves. Particularly one Remus Lupin...

"Hi, is this Remus? No, um, this isn't Sirius. I'm his cousin Tonks. See, I just turned eighteen today so he decided to take me out drinking, but he kind of had too much Firewhiskey and passed out, and I don't know how to drive his bike, and he had your number on his phone, so... Can you come pick us up?"

How did the Marauders meet? Surely they weren't best friends from the moment they clapped eyes on each other? Surely... it had something to with rats, hippogriffs, and orange rope.
