What if, on that first visit to Diagon Alley with Hagrid, Harry had run into a well-meaning stranger who saw him struggling with all the new and unfamiliar aspects of the wizarding world and offered some help? How would a Harry Potter armed with knowledge change the events that were to unfold at Hogwarts?

What if someone had one day saw little Harry Potter in his cupboard when the Dursley's weren't around? What if they had called the police and child services? What if child services called someone by the name of Severus Snape to ask if he wanted to adopt? What if maybe, just maybe Harry Potter's life changes for the better by this action?

Summary: When Dudley turned eight his parents took him on vacation to Egypt, and because of certain circumstances they had to take Harry with them. While in Egypt they visited many tourist sites, and at one of the sites Harry catches they eye of a young prince who is out on his mandatory commoner mingling walk. Harry Potter grew up with a certain group of kids. A group of friends so close they were more like family than friends. A pack. Then Harry gets his Hogwarts letter and he has to leave his pack.
