Because Sharon might have shushed Ricky during that discussion, but they both forgot about keeping their voices down about thirty seconds later, and I would be entirely surprised if Rusty didn't catch at least part of the fight. Plus, much as he kept quiet through Ricky's shenanigans the previous day, we just know that he had opinions on that, too.
