After being kidnapped by pirates on their way to the New World, Ivan Braginski and Arthur Kirkland meet the infamous pirate, Capitaine François Bonnefoy. He seems arrogant and uncaring on the outside, but they soon discover that François is much more than they realise.

Ivan Braginski, on a scale of normal to abnormal, was completely and utterly irregular. Alfred F. Jones was native to America; he grew up in a cookie cutter American household, with his two brothers and two sisters. He was completely normal, and yet, something drew him to Ivan.
